PULSE

( People Using Leadership Skills Effectively) Retreats and PULSE Clubs for middle and high school students

Two PULSE retreats are offered each year. This is a 3-day retreat. Students are invited who represented all risk levels with the intent to break down barriers and build leadership skill.

Indian Valley High School and Lewistown Area High School each has a P.U.L.S.E. club that is involved in activities designed to keep youth engaged and continue to bond with community adults. This innovative program provides community attachment and alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs prevention in the middle and high schools.

Volunteers from across the community are trained and participate in the two PULSE retreats.

This program address and counteracts all of the identified risk factors, especially:

  • Availability of Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs
  • Low Neighborhood Attachment and Community Disorganization
  • Favorable Parental Attitudes for Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug Use
